WAYFINDING CENTRE

The Wayfinding Centre is more than a place — it’s a journey of transformation, echoing the voices and visions of tomorrow’s youth. Located in Braunstone Gate, Leicester — an area grappling with rising crime and social disorder, particularly among adolescents transitioning into adulthood — the Centre stands as a beacon of change, hope, and direction. This proposal seeks to regenerate the site into a functional community hub while preserving the historic integrity of the existing viaduct, blending restoration with renewal.
At the heart of the project is the revival of stonemasonry — a once-thriving traditional craft now fading in the shadow of modern construction methods. By offering hands-on engagement with this discipline, the Centre reconnects young people with heritage, skill, and purpose.
